Email Address Obfuscator

Hide an email address from spam bots before you publish it online. Choose a human-readable or HTML-entity version.

About email obfuscation

Why obfuscate your email

Spammers run bots that crawl web pages harvesting anything that looks like an email address. The moment your real address appears in plain text on a public page, it gets added to spam lists. Obfuscation makes the address readable to humans but much harder for simple scrapers to collect.

Even better, publish a temporary address instead of your real one, so that if it does get scraped, the spam lands in a disposable inbox you can throw away.

Which format should I use?

The readable format (name [at] domain [dot] com) is best for forums, social bios and plain text. The HTML-entity version looks like a normal address to visitors but is encoded in the page source, which defeats most basic harvesters. Remember that no obfuscation is perfect, so a disposable address is still the safest choice.
